New School Hours

WOW!  I cannot believe that the new school year is almost here.  I have had a great summer and plan on making the most out of the remaining time.   My district changed the school hours on us without telling us.  Parents were actually notified before teachers were!  We used to dismiss the children at 3:15---NOW it is 3:40  and the buses will not leave until 3:50!!  Big change, right?  Needless to say the union is stepping in..however, it looks like that is how it is going to be.  My biggest gripe is that we were not told in advance and another school in the district still has not been officially told!  Oh well...should be an interesting year...good luck everyone who has not started back yet, and to those who are already back, I hope it is going well! Out of curiosity...what are everyones hours..in Elem. schools???

Ahhhhhhhhhh, Summer!

I am really having a wonderful summer!  If I had to go back to work tomorrow, I would not complain!  But I am happy I have 7 more weeks!  Actually, I am working tomorrow.  I am teaching our Jump Start program that runs m-th in the mornings for 2 weeks.  It is for the incoming Kindergarteners, so it is great, I get to meet half my class.  Summer has been great- I have gone to 3 concerts, camping for 3 nights, visiting friends and family, organizing the house and decorating it too!  It has been fun!  However, school is always in the back of my mind.  I already have started shopping for things for work.  I also plan on spending a little time after work this week to organize my classroom.  I can't help it.  I have the desire to do it, so I might as well go with it!  I hope you are all enjoying your summer!

First Blog

I am on my Spring Break right now.  I should not be thinking about work.  But , I am.  I could not wait until my break was here.  The kids were on my last nerve and I really needed a break, which I am sure most teachers feel the same way this time of year.  However, I spend most of my break thinking and planning for work. Oh well, I enjoy it.  I was just granted Tenure last week.  Feels good.  That is all I have for now.
